John Gotti orchestrated a hit on former
Gambino mafia boss Paul Castellano to become boss. This was never seen in mafia
history and it raised eyebrows at the time as it brought so much attention to
the mafia. This was carried out in front of citizens and for the media to
cover. This wasn’t silent or secret and it went against the initial standings
